Heiderauschen House

Hiddensee

Heiderauschen House is located in an absolutely secluded position in the dunes of the Dünenheide National Park and is a typical hideaway. The location of the house directly behind the dune is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and nature-rich locations on the German Baltic Sea coast. A beach access is located right next to the house. Due to its distance, the beautiful West Beach here is also sparsely frequented even in high summer. The house can be reached via sandy paths approximately 2.5 km south of Vitter Harbor. The house, dating back to the 1950s, underwent extensive renovation in 2022 and has a total area of 170 sqm. The attic offers a breathtaking view of the Baltic Sea. To the east, one can admire the Dünenheide, which turns violet in late summer. The house has been renovated to a very high standard and features an annex building, multiple terraces, and a bathroom with a steam sauna. It is powered by an air heat pump, has its own organic sewage treatment system, and a private well. A fiber optic connection is available.

The island behind the island

Coming from the island of Rügen, Hiddensee offers a unique island experience. The island, shaped like a seahorse and only a few hundred meters wide, can be reached by water taxi or ferry, from where Heiderauschen House is located approximately 2.5 km to the south. Cars are not allowed on Hiddensee, so the house can be reached by horse-drawn carriage or by walking with a handcart.

A true hideaway

Heiderauschen House is located on a sandy path in a secluded location within the Dünenheide National Park. It is situated directly behind the dune, so the beach is only a few meters away. Even in high summer, there are only a few bathers here. From the attic, there is an immediate view over the dune to the Baltic Sea. A true hideaway on the island behind the island.

Place of longing

Since the 1920s, Hiddensee has been known as the “island behind the island” and has been a place of longing for many city dwellers. During the GDR era, Hiddensee became a preferred destination for free spirits and those seeking an alternative lifestyle. The long, sometimes only 200 meters wide island, shaped like a seahorse, is divided into four villages: the artist village of Kloster below the lighthouse in the north, the island’s capital Vitte, the village of Grieben, and the white fishing village of Neuendorf in the south. Hiddensee offers its guests diverse natural landscapes, such as the highlands of Dornbusch in the north or the unique dune heath in the center of the island.
